Nature has been known to be fair to all living things and many times offers excellent remedies in the simplest manner to all living beings. Breast feeding and pregnancy is one such instance. There is sufficient research carried out throughout the world, which indicates that this works pretty good.

How Can The Breast Feeding And Pregnancy Be Related?

Breast feeding or more exactly, active breastfeeding stimulate a number of hormones which in turn inhibit ovulation of the body. This explains how breast feeding and pregnancy are connected. Now there are some conditions which apply if you want this to really work, and these are:

1. The breastfeeding should be fulltime this means that the baby does not have the formula milk as a choice. In the eventuality when the mother has to go out for a long period, she usually pumps out milk and leaves it for the baby.
2. Watch closely your menstrual cycle the moment you see any type of spotting, it means that your fertility has returned so, seek doctor’s advice
3. As long as you breastfeed continuously, say, for about three to six months, the contraceptive quality of process is guaranteed. As a matter of fact, as soon as the baby is weaned, even slightly, the body senses it and then releases the eggs for ovulation.
4. Many mothers disrupt feeding during the night, especially because the baby does not get up in the night and hence, the mother does not think it necessary. It may indeed not be so. However, the body senses the gap and then releases the egg. Once the egg is released, the body’s fertility circle starts afresh.
5. It is important as you see, that the breast feeding and pregnancy be understood thoroughly if it is to be used as a contraceptive method. In case you think you are covered and safe and the method fails it would be because you have not understood well, nor practiced it well.

In conclusion, breast feeding and pregnancy are indeed inter-related and that means that one’s performance is dependent upon the other. In this case, pregnancy can be the result of irregular breastfeeding hence, if you started weaning your baby, you should visit the doctor and ask some alternative contraceptive.

As long as you breastfeed constantly, you are safe till about six months. Even if you breastfeed constantly after six months, you should consult a doctor for some other contraceptive. In case the baby had been weaned at four months, be careful since you could get pregnant.
